The CVCA has agreed to play a major role in the Canadian DealMakers Awards Program, which recognizes participants whose M&A activities have made a significant contribution to Canadian business.

To qualify for one the CVCA Sponsored Canadian DealMakers Awards, the Nominating Member must submit a completed Information Sheet, prior to December 15, 2009.  The information gathered will be kept confidential and only made available to the CVCA Selection Committee and Award Judges.

CVCA Calls for Government to Support Increased Commercialization of Research and Development

The CVCA recommends a series of practical, modest initiatives that could be implemented by the federal government to help spur the investment needed to support early-stage Canadian companies.

Valuation Guidelines for CVCA Members - Updated September 2009

 

The International Private Equity and Venture Capital Valuation (IPEV) Board Updated Private Equity Valuation Guidelines to take into account the evolution of fair value accounting requirements and practices around the globe, in particular as promulgated by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in the United States and by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).There is a link to these guidelines on the CVCA website at www.cvca.ca/about/valuation/  or directly at http://www.privateequityvaluation.com/

Canadian Institutions and Private Equity

CVCA’s Institutional Committee was formed specifically to follow through on the recommendations outlined in the government commissioned report “Finding the Key – Canadian Institutional Investors and Private Equity” which was released in December 2003. The CVCA has prepared a detailed presentation directed at encouraging new institutional investors to participate in the venture capital and private equity asset class.
