The Canadian Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (CVCA) is seeking an exceptional leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the national voice for more than 350 member firms and over 3,300 individual leaders, the CVCA plays a critical role in advocacy, research, education, and community building to advance Canadian innovation, growth, and economic leadership. Amid shifting capital markets, evolving regulations, and global economic pressures, the CVCA is entering a pivotal moment for the private capital sector. It is within this context that the organization is seeking a dynamic, forward-looking CEO to lead the organization into its next chapter.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will be responsible for shaping and executing the CVCA’s new strategic plan, deepening member engagement, and amplifying the organization’s influence nationally and globally. This leader will serve as the public face of the association—representing the CVCA to government, media, and key stakeholders—while cultivating a high-performing and inclusive internal culture. The CEO will focus on member engagement, external partnerships, public policy positioning, and ensuring the CVCA remains at the forefront of Canada’s innovation economy. The CEO will also inherit a mission-driven and engaged team and will be a steward of the high-performing culture that CVCA has developed.

As an ideal candidate, you are a strategic executive leader with a proven ability to drive results in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, including demonstrated experience working with boards and governance frameworks. With a collaborative and emotionally intelligent leadership style, you build trust, motivate teams, and develop relationships that drive measurable outcomes. A hands-on operator, you thrive in fast-paced settings, navigating challenges, and seizing opportunities with confidence. You are a poised communicator and brand ambassador, comfortable in the spotlight and confident in an advocacy-focused leadership role. Experience in public policy and/or government relations is a strong asset, as is a nuanced understanding of Canada’s private capital ecosystem or adjacent sectors. A deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion ensures your leadership resonates across the full breadth of CVCA’s membership. Fluency in both of Canada’s official languages is a strong asset.
