TORONTO, August 13, 2026 — The Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CVCA) today named the speakers for the Canadian Global Growth Forum, the invitation-only working session it will convene in Toronto on Monday, September 14, with BDC and Kalos Transaction Advisory as presenting sponsors. Seventeen CVCA member firms set the program across private equity, venture growth and fund-of-funds: Beringer Capital, Birch Hill Equity Partners, Brookfield, Georgian, HarbourVest Canada, Imperial Capital, Inovia Capital, Kensington Capital Partners, Maverix Private Equity, Northleaf Capital Partners, OMERS Ventures, Onex and ONCAP, Plaza Ventures, Radical Ventures, Round13 Capital, Teralys Capital and TorQuest Partners. Cyrus Madon, who chairs Brookfield Asset Management’s private equity group, John Toomey, chief executive of HarbourVest Partners, Camilla Languille, co-chief executive of Mubadala’s private equity platform, Stuart Waugh, managing partner, Northleaf Capital Partners, and Paul Desmarais III, chairman and chief executive of Sagard, will be among those speaking. Chief Executives of Canada’s fastest growing companies will speak to what their companies have built here, including Aidan Gomez of Cohere, Michael Katchen of Wealthsimple, Raquel Urtasun of Waabi, Mina Mitry of Kepler Communications and Ramtin Attar of Promise Robotics, with more to be confirmed. Senior leaders from across global private capital and Canadian private markets will be attending, alongside the chief executives of the companies that Canadian fund managers have backed. The Forum will run a full day ahead of the program of the federal government’s first Canada Investment Summit. Investment teams from the United States, the Gulf, China, Malaysia, France and Australia are travelling to Toronto for the day, alongside the Canadian pension and institutional investors active in the market. They will meet Canadian fund managers privately across the day, in meetings scheduled in advance, made possible by Dentons Canada LLP. “Canada spent forty years building a way of investing that other countries now copy, where institutional capital owns productive assets directly and holds them for decades,” said Benjamin Bergen, Chief Executive Officer of CVCA. “Our members built that system and invest through it every day. In September, they are opening it to global investors.” The Institutional Limited Partners Association will open the day with breakfast for limited partners, led by ILPA general counsel and chief operating officer Genie Cesar-Fabian. ILPA represents more than 7,000 professionals across more than 50 countries whose member institutions manage roughly half of global institutional private-market assets. The Waterfront Social, presented by Torys LLP, will close the day, opening the Forum to CVCA’s full membership of more than 340 firms. Other backers of the Forum include Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP, and McCarthy Tétrault LLP, as industry sponsors. Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, PIXCELL – Leaders Recruiting Leaders, and Sagard have joined as supporting sponsors. Additional quotes from Forum participants: “Cohere was founded in Canada, and Toronto has been our home since day one. From here, we’ve built a global AI company serving governments and leading enterprises around the world,” said Aidan Gomez, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Cohere. “Canada has the talent, ambition and ecosystem to build companies that compete and lead globally.” “International capital allocators can participate in the Canadian mid-market through the funds who source and operate in it,” said Adam Shantz, Managing Partner and Co-Head, ONCAP. “The event on September 14th offers an opportunity to meet the top managers in the country and better understand the opportunities to deploy capital in the Canadian market.” “Canada has been a core pillar of our global strategy for two decades – it’s a market we’ve believed in and are investing behind for the long-term,” said Stuart Waugh, Managing Partner, Northleaf Capital Partners. “As more of the world turns toward Canada’s strong, stable fundamentals, our focus remains where it’s been for 20 years: giving our institutional investors access to compelling mid-market opportunities that are otherwise hard to reach.” Subscribe First Name*Last Name*Email* Company*Security Check This site is protected by reCAPTCHA and the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
