Mike Woollatt, CEO
| 416-487-0519 ext. 210 Mike is CEO of the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CVCA). Previously Mike was an entrepreneur who co-founded, amongst other businesses, Beaconsfield Group – a successful management consulting and public affairs firm. He has held senior executive roles at various major Canadian corporations including Bell Canada, CTVglobemedia, and Canwest Global Communications. Before entering the private sector, Mike worked for the Government of Canada as an economist in the Department of Finance and as a policy advisor to the Minister of Finance. Mike has also worked overseas as an economist on World Bank-funded projects and was a College-level economic Instructor. He holds a BA and MA in Economics from the University of British Columbia.
Lauren Hart, Events Manager
| 416 487-0519 ext. 203 Lauren is responsible for coordinating all the CVCA’s professional development and networking opportunities, including Canada’s largest venture capital and private equity conference hosted by the CVCA. Drawing on five years of event management experience and a strong background in corporate hospitality, Lauren is focused on developing new and exciting ways to engage CVCA members across Canada. Lauren has a BA in English from the University of Waterloo, and received a Special Event Planning Diploma from George Brown College.
Carolyn Goard, Communications Manager
| 416-487-0519 ext. 204 Carolyn oversees all of the CVCA’s communications and marketing efforts, which includes managing the Association’s brand, coordinating media outreach programs, and managing the development of all online content and social media engagements. Carolyn also brings with her a background in journalism, and is keen on positioning the CVCA as the industry thought leader for all things private capital through informative and engaging content. Carolyn has a BA in Popular Culture and Communications from Brock University, a diploma in Journalism from Niagara College Canada, and an interdisciplinary Master of Arts degree in Communication Studies from Brock University.
Gabrielle Schachter, Membership & Sponsorship Manager
| 416-487-0519 ext. 207 As CVCA’s Membership & Sponsorship Manager, Gabrielle is responsible for developing and implementing membership and business development strategies that maximize the benefit of being a member, and partner of the CVCA, both for the individuals and organizations involved. Gabrielle is also in charge of generating revenues through the raising of sponsorships for a variety of CVCA events and initiatives held throughout the year. Prior to joining the CVCA in February 2016, Gabrielle worked as a Program and Stakeholder Relations Manager for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, driving programs and initiatives that engaged leaders and change agents in communities across Ontario. Gabrielle also spent several years in the private sector working for RBC Capital Markets’ Client & Marketing Strategy division and was a team lead for the provincial government when she first moved to Canada in 2007. A British citizen raised and educated in France, Gabrielle is fully bilingual and brings a breadth of experience and knowledge in building long lasting connections with a variety of stakeholders. Gabrielle holds a BSc. (Hons) in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester Business School.
Darrell Pinto, Research Director

Darrell oversees all data related to Canadian private capital investments, exit and fundraising activities for the CVCA. Darrell has held senior positions at several global organizations including the Toronto Stock Exchange, Institutional Limited Partners Association, Thomson Reuters, Glaxosmithkline and the Interac Association. In between these, he also started his own successful management consulting company. He has worked in New York, London and Shanghai, but Toronto remains his favourite working city. He brings to the CVCA a passion for telling compelling stories with data. Darrell is currently on the board of a non-profit social housing in Peel, a member of Volunteer Toronto as well as an active volunteer with Woodgreen Community Services. He holds a BA in Philosophy/History from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management.
Andrew Keenan, International Trade Liaison Officer
| 416 487-0519 ext. 205 Andrew supports CVCA member funds by connecting them to international business opportunities. This includes potential foreign LP investors, speaking opportunities at international VC/PE events, and participation in CVCA missions to foreign markets. Andrew has several years of experience working in the financing sector, including corporate lending at Scotiabank and EDC, as well as several years experience based in California connecting Canadian companies to investors. Andrew received his BBA at the University of New Brunswick, and his MBA in Finance at Saint Mary’s University.
