Accessing World Class Talent

Accessing World Class Talent

Converting capital into innovative ideas, technologies and companies takes people. Access to high quality human resources remains a consistent challenge in the private capital industry. In turn, the CVCA works closely with both educational institutions and governments to ensure that Canada continues to cultivate the talent required to fuel innovation and growth, as well as leverage its immigration programs, such as the Global Talent Stream of the Temporary Foreign Workers Program and the Startup Visa Program to access high-demand skills.

Additionally, CVCA is committed to preparing the next generation of private capital professionals with the Canadian Private Capital Investment School and through the promotion of the viability of careers in the Canadian venture capital and private equity industry through the association’s AMA Roundtable Series.

Canadian Private Capital Investment School (CPCIS)

Delivered in partnership with The Ivey Academy, the Canadian Private Capital Investment School is a specialized program preparing the next generation of institutional fund managers, government fund managers, family fund managers, corporate investors, angels, and private fund professionals for the growth of the equity investment sector in Canada.

The CPCIS is critical in the long-term sustainability of the private capital industry in Canada and the overall economy. Private capital professionals encourage founders to build and scale great companies; playing a core role in Canada’s economy.

Ask Me Anything (AMA) Roundtable Series

In 2018, the Canadian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CVCA) embarked on a cross-country tour, speaking to Canadian business school students to inspire ambition and interest in private capital careers. Due to overwhelming response and interest from our ecosystem, communities and students across the country, we have embedded the AMA series as a permanent CVCA offering under our Diversity & Inclusion mandate.

AMA participants will enjoy insights and informal Q&A with industry ambassadors who will speak openly about challenges and opportunities they have experienced throughout their careers.

Universities interested in this unique opportunity for their students should contact the CVCA. To learn more about the AMA series, contact our Event Coordinator, Stephanie Lewis.

CVCA Diversity & Inclusion Mandate (D&I)

The CVCA is committed to improving D&I in the Canadian private capital market. The organization recognizes its influence and its responsibility to support the leadership of its members in moving the needle on D&I.

Following the release of the 2019 Canadian Private Equity and Venture Capital – State Of Diversity & Inclusion report, the CVCA, as the association for private capital in Canada, pledged a number of actions in an effort to do its part to improve diversity and inclusion in the industry.

  • Take A Leadership Role
