  • THE opportunity

    We are actively seeking a Financial Analyst to join our growing Financial Management and Reporting team. In this role you will develop and prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports and analyses for administrative expenses and investment related expenses (IRE), program costs, Province matching and consolidated operating results. In addition, the role involves assisting cost centre managers in preparing their annual budgets and understanding their actual costs compared to plan on an on-going basis. Also includes preparing analysis for Consulting report for the ET team and other decks for senior management. Province matching represents an amount received from the province of approximately $1.6B and therefore accuracy and collaboration with the Member Services teams is critical.

    Who you’ll work with

    You will work with a dynamic team of financial professionals from varied backgrounds including CPA, CFA, MBA, etc. We collaborate closely with the cost centre managers and our award winning Member Services team.

    What you’ll do

    • Accountable for the accurate and timely preparation of all month-end, quarterly and annual reports for administrative expenses, IRE, allocations and consolidated operating results and for ensuring that appropriate internal controls are in place.

    • Actively develop new reports and dashboards using Power BI or similar visualization reporting tools for the senior management team.

    • Assists cost centre managers and the Executive team in reviewing and understanding their financial reporting and budgeting activities which will significantly impact the organization's strategic direction, service and costs.

    • Provide content and analysis for PowerPoint presentations supporting the Executive Team, Board and others and be ready to assist as necessary

    • Collect allocation rates, modify the allocation model, producing analysis for management team

    • Working with the Member Services teams to appropriately prepare the final Province matching package for external auditors and invoicing to the Province.

    • Supporting the business for charging IRE related costs and support investment teams to understand and analyse the investment expenses (costs related to successful, pending and broken deals).

    What you’ll need

    • Minimum 4 years’ experience in accounting/finance department

    • University degree in Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce or equivalent

    • CPA designation achieved or in progress or equivalent work experience is a preferred

    • Knowledge of accounting theory, financial reporting, budgeting and cost accounting including related methodology, techniques and procedures

    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint is an asset

    • Very strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to prepare reports both written and verbal and liaise with contacts inside and outside the Plan.

    • Highly motivated teammate who is able to meet the challenges of a fast-paced environment, can handle multiple projects and flourishes with developing new skills

    • You can identify opportunities/requirements, and develop solutions/courses of action where there often is no internal precedent. Due to the non-recurring and analytical nature of activities, a high level of constructive thought is required.

    • Some proficiency and experience with PowerBI is strongly preferred
