  • Exciting opportunity to join our growing Responsible Investing team and make a meaningful impact on our fight against climate change! Reporting to the Senior Principal, this position will support the RI team’s work on internal climate change initiatives, ESG integration and engagement across all asset classes. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in understanding and assessing transition and physical climate change impacts on or from our portfolio companies. Proficiency in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions accounting, emissions management is an asset.

    The Principal RI should have demonstrated ability to link ESG factors to drivers of investment risk and return and have experience in assessing their relevance and materiality to investments at a company and portfolio level.

    Candidate must have knowledge and expertise on environmental, social and climate change issues and must be able to convey these concepts in a compelling manner to portfolio managers.

    What you'll do

    • Works with the RI team on fund-level climate change risk metrics, identification, assessment, and attribution analysis, including GHG footprinting at the company and portfolio level

    • Keep abreast of developments in the climate change space, including policy and regulatory changes, evolving GHG and ESG accounting standards, and industry initiatives,

    • Conduct assessments on ESG and climate risks at the investment level during the due diligence and asset management processes.

    • Provide subject matter expertise to investment professionals on ESG considerations in investments

    • Undertake deep research on critical and emerging ESG topics to enhance the team and plan’s knowledge base.

    • Support other RI- and TFM-related initiates as required.

    What you'll need

    • Minimum Bachelor, Masters preferred degree in technical field such as engineering, climate science, or environment

    • CFA an asset

    • Minimum 5-7 years related experience

    • Climate change or energy scenario development and analysis either in a technical or consulting capacity

    • Strong knowledge of climate change and its potential impacts and related concepts

    • Technical knowledge of ESG concepts and GHG footprinting

    • Familiarity with investments, public and private markets

    • Strong written and verbal communications skills that demonstrate diplomacy and persuasion, with an emphasis on the ability to communicate technical material to financial/portfolio management staff

    • Possess a curious and analytical mind and demonstrated ability to think critically and engage constructively

    • Ability to engage and work at various levels of the organizations

    • Works well independently or as a member of a team

    • Highly adaptable and flexible and open to new opportunities

    • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities

    • Strong proficiency in MS Excel-based data analysis, familiarity with Power BI and data manipulation an asset
