Praxis Neuro Next is a for-profit investment fund spun out of The Praxis Spinal Cord Institute (formerly Rick Hansen Institute), a Canadian-based not-for-profit organization that leads global collaboration in spinal cord injury research, innovation, and care. The fund builds on Praxis Spinal Cord Institute’s track record of accelerating 40+ start-ups.

Praxis Neuro Next will invest in seed-stage start-ups transforming lives for those with neurological disabilities (e.g. spinal cord injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis). While neurological conditions impact 1 in 4 Canadians, many of their challenges (e.g. mobility, wound care) are also encountered by our rapidly aging population. Accordingly, Neuro Next sees itself as not only helping the neuro-impacted community but also more broadly as a catalyst for “aging technology innovation”.

Praxis Neuro Next is seeking a venture capital veteran to provide senior leadership and
mentoring to our investment fund on a part-time basis. This individual would play a key role in supporting and advising on fund set-up, fund administration, deal screening and diligence, and communication with LPs and portfolio companies.
The role would be ideal for a “general partner emeritus” who has deep fundraising experience and perhaps has wound down involvement in a venture fund yet is interested in leveraging their years of experience to help launch an innovative social impact investment vehicle.
Due to the small initial size and the charitable mission of the fund, cash remuneration for this role will be modest. However, participation in the fund’s carry may be available.

• Tenure as a general partner in a venture capital fund
• Experience with fundraising from limited partners
• Experience with fund set up and fund administration
• Clear and experienced communicator with a proactive style
• Strong mentorship and ecosystem building skills
• Alignment with Praxis’ charitable and impact mission
